Enrollment
Students will achieve the best success in their bilingualism and biliteracy if they enter our program in kindergarten or first grade and continue through sixth grade. While Vida often has space in our classrooms to enroll students after kindergarten, it can be challenging for students without a Spanish language background to enter a bilingual or Dual Language model above second grade, as grade level content including math, science, and social studies are taught through both English and Spanish.
Families are strongly encouraged to schedule a tour and/or attend an Open House event when considering enrollment for their student.
Transportation is provided for Vida Charter School students who live in the following school districts: Bermudian Springs, Chambersburg, Conewago Valley, Fairfield, Gettysburg, Hanover, Littlestown, Southwestern, and Upper Adams. Please inquire for more details about transportation for your child.
You can also call (717) 334-3643 to request a paper enrollment form.
The Enrollment Process
- Request a paper application by calling (717)334-3643 or stopping by the school, or you may download and print a copy here.
- Submit your completed application directly to the school office via regular mail, or by emailing it to records@vidacharterschool.com, or drop it off! In addition to the application, you must submit a copy of the student's birth certificate and your proof of residence.
- You will be contacted by the school to confirm receipt of the application, to identify any additional missing documents, and to answer any questions you may have.
- The school will inform you if/when your student is accepted, based upon available seats in our classrooms.
-
Open Enrollment: The initial or "open" enrollment period begins in January of each year for the subsequent school year. Families are encouraged to submit their child's application by March 15th for the best opportunity to secure a spot. If, on March 16th, there are sufficient seats for all applicants to attend, the applicants will be informed that their student is offered enrollment, and will be asked to confirm their intent to enroll their student. If there are more eligible applicants than available seats, the school will conduct a manual lottery to determine which students will be enrolled. Non-selected students will be added to a Waiting List.
-
Late Enrollment: All applications received after the initial or "open" enrollment period will be accepted on a "First-Come, First-Serve" basis, after the Waiting List, generated by the Lottery, has been exhausted.
-
Re-enrollment: The re-enrollment process is conducted for the existing student body for the forthcoming year, beginning on January 1st and ending on February 25th of the same year. In each successive school year, students who were enrolled in the school the previous year will keep their seats in the school until they graduate, provided they submit a re-enrollment form. Students who do not submit a re-enrollment form by the deadline (February 25th) must re-apply during the initial or "open" enrollment period. All aforementioned applicant rules will then be enforced.
